Silk Road operator: Ross Ulbricth seeks out for Bitcoin Cash proponent’s help

Silk Road, a dark net market place, has always been placed on a prominent spot in the cryptocurrency market, with the main reason being its contribution towards the adoption of Bitcoin [BTC]. The cryptocurrency was the only means of payment on Silk Road for services ranging from drugs to assassination contracts.

The market place saw its end in the year of 2014 in the hands of the Federal Bureau of Investigation [FBI], who also arrested Ross Ulbricth – founder of the website under the name, Dread Pirate Roberts. This was soon followed by Ulbricth convicted with a total of seven charges with operations related to Silk Road including money laundering and computer hacking. Ulbricth was also charged with hire-for-murder, which was later on dismissed in the month of July 2018.

This ultimately resulted in Ulbricth being sentenced for double life imprisonment plus forty years and without the possibility of parole. However, the sentencing led to a massive uproar in the space, with majority claiming that it was too harsh for being convicted with all non-violent charges. Additionally, appeals were also raised regarding the same, but have been turned down by the court, with the final one rejected being by the U.S Supreme Court earlier this year.

Nonetheless, Ross Ulbricth has not given up on stepping out of the prison, especially with his petition for clemency receiving more and more support as the days pass by. The operator of the famous darknet marketplace has been in touch with space via letters, which is posted on Twitter. The latest one was sent to Roger Ver, Founder of Bitcoin.com, who is a well-known supporter of the #FreeRoss campaign.

In the letter, Ulbricth has requested for Ver’s help in convincing the President of United States of America to commute his sentencing.

“Now my best hope is convinced the president to commute my sentence that and I want to show him and the public that I have the support of the crypto community with the support of Lin and my girlfriend, Caroline we’re putting together some short video clips of influential people in crypto.”

He further stated:

“Despite losing the court battles I’m more hopeful than ever that relief will come thank you for standing behind me all these years it really means a lot”
